Lou Wirth is not a household name. Not flashy or loud, Lou is one of those guys who just quietly goes about getting the job done. The town is filled with independent editors and we could have easily filled up a site listing them all. We wanted to highlight a sampling of the best of what the Bay Area has to offer, and Lou is one of those. In his beautifully equipped studio in Corte Madera, just 10 minutes over the Golden Gate Bridge Lou has been consistently turning out quality work for both broadcast TV and corporate clients. Whether it was one of his nine Emmy Awards (yes 9!!!) for his work as editor on the Learning Channel’s documentary “San Francisco Quake: A Matter of Seconds” to creating and producing a series for Turner South “live at the Bluebird Café” or one of many pieces he did as part of his corporate work, Lou has demonstrated his mastery of his craft and understanding of the “business” side of the business. For example the Turner South had wanted to do the Bluebird Café piece for years, but because of a small budget put the show on the back burner. Then came along Lou who figured out a way to create a high quality show, and work within the limited budget constraints. The show garnered an Emmy Nomination in its’ first year. No small feat.
On his site Lou states:
“LWP offers a broad range of services for television networks and corporate clients, from directing and producing to editing and edit suite rental. Principal Lou Wirth brings a wealth of hands-on experience across these disciplines to every LWP project. When needed, we bring on additional professionals, each one someone we know and trust. This enables us to stay intimately involved in all aspects of our projects, while allowing the flexibility to deliver the highest caliber creative result within even the most challenging time and budget parameters”.
Awards aren’t everything but they are an indication by your peers that you are doing something right. Lou has won an astounding 9 Emmy Awards, and 20 nominations. Telly Awards Gold Award, International Film & TV Festival of NY Silver Award, Chicago International Film & TV Festival: Silver, 3 Cable Ace Awards and more. Whew that’s a mouthful.
So at a time when editors are popping out of every nook and cranny, people of discernment are always ready to seek out those who really know what they are doing. If you are someone who can’t afford to NOT deliver the goods, then Lou is definitely someone you want to have on your side. We found him, and we like him and admire his track record and the breath and depth of his work. Be sure to add him to your short list. He is definitely PHS recommended.
