Magno Sound and Video is a New York facility whose roots run deep to the production past, but clearly have kept up with changing technology and have on eye to our high tech production future. Magno Sound and Video is conveniently located in the historic 729 Seventh Avenue building and was founded in 1950, by Ralph Friedman, who was soundman for the television classic Candid Camera. The insights gained by working at the forefront of this new medium led him to begin his own facility and offer his unique services to others.
Magno originally focused on audio recording and mixing, for TV and Feature Films, and here found early success. Not one to rest on their laurels Magno Sound and Video has continually evolved over the years. In the 50’s and 60’s they added film and video post services, and then in the 70’s were one of the first facilities in the US to offer film to tape via the infamous Rank Cintel Telecine.
In today’s complex production environment Magno has continued to evolve their facility and services offered, and now has a robust set of offerings to handle a broad range of post-production services. Some of these include:
VIDEO: video editing, Telecine color correction, archival film transfer, compression, dvd encoding & authoring, graphics animation, duplication restoration and more.
AUDIO: Mixing for TV & Film, voice recording, sound effects, optical soundtrack recording, audio restoration
SCREENING: 2 world-class screening rooms with all the modern bells and whistles
INT’L: Standards conversion, standards duplication, cross conversion, online editing, digital mixing, film-to-tape-transfer. They can essentially take whatever format you have, and get it to whatever format you need. Their large front end of modern and legacy gear, makes this a very valuable local resource
MUSIC: All aspects of original music composition and sound design services for TV, Film and Advertising:
All this technology is obviously a great resource, but would not be complete, if Magno Sound and Video did not back this up with an exceptional staff of talented and experienced professionals. In addition, they have kept alive the company tradition of putting the client first. This means they have crafted a facility with an eye to detail and the creature comforts and ergonomics that lets you focus on the creative process.
Bob and David Friedman, Magno’s current owners, have made sure this well known and respected facility has kept up with the times, and have positioned it for the future. We have known and trusted Magno Sound and Video for many years, and why we are confident to include them in our production hotspot listings. We say check them out.
