Aerial Cinematography is a world unto itself. Like everything else it is going through tremendous changes. There are now only about 22 members left in the Motion Picture Pilots association, most 50 and older. Al was the recipient of the 2009 Society of Camera Operators Lifetime Achievement Awards. With more then 25,000 hours of flight time, Al is one of the most experienced pilots flying today. Chances are good if you have seen a dynamic aerial scene of NYC in a film, chances are good Al was the pilot. A few of the films he has worked on included Superman, The Protector, Working Girl, Saturday Night Fever, Iron Man 2, and TV shows such as Law and Order, Gossip Girl, Ugly Betty and more. With over 4 decades plus of working in the industry Al, has seen and done it all. I think it safe to say that, when it comes to shooting aerial in NY, nobody knows more then Al Cerullo.
Al maintains his Hover Views hangar at Republic Airport in Syosset NY. His walls are lined with photos from the countless shoots he has done for a wide range of film and tv projects. Regardless of the location, or whether he is flying withthe doors off or on, Al says he approaches each job with the same determination.
"the most important thing he says "is that we all go home safe at the end of the night" When it comes to aerial work in NY, you would be hard pressed to find someone more knowledgable to work with then Al, and its why he is included in our listings.
