No BGGS does not stand for Brisbane Girls Grammar School, of course it stands for Bills Grip and Gaffer Service (or is it Gaffer & Grip?). Though not as well-known as some of the bigger facilities in town like DTC or Little Giant, Bill Doherty is well-known among industry insiders, a lighting guy’s lighting guy. He has been part of the local scene for a long time and has established himself as go to lighting designer. He has worked on feature films, broadcast TV, commercials, and has also designed the lighting for studio installations. Bill has accumulated an impressive array of lighting and grip gear. He has this for hire in both 1 ton and 3 ton truck configurations.
It was Bill that designed the lighting control and infrastructure for the Cisco studio complex. An impressive in house facility featuring 4 studios. They were equipped with mole, Kino Flo, Matthews and ETC equipment. In addition to his commercial, corporate and feature work Bill’s lighting design can also be seen in local theater productions such as Cabaret and The Mikado. He has also done lighting for trade shows
Bill is an ETCP EEC certified gaffer. He is easy to work worth and has the equipment that you need. Whether its a lighting consult, a simple interview, or a full-blown indie film, he can do it all. Bills design services are compatible with AutoCAD and Victor works.
