Gordon Mciver, Rebel Sun principal would probably say that he is one of the smaller grip and electric companies that is represented on production hotspot.com. We feel perfectly comfortable including him with bigger and older companies such as DTC and Arthur Fryer etc. With over 10 years experience lighting films, commercials, music videos, industrials and photography shoots Gordon has the full range of experience that you would expect to find with older and bigger companies. One thing that is not small is his reputation. Everyone we ran into only had good things to say about Gordon
Rebel Sun’s primary transport is a pre-loaded 2-ton grip and lighting truck. However, if you need more gear, that is no problem. Gordon is well-connected and knows who is who, and whos got what. His pre-loaded inventory is quite complete and includes generators, HMIs to Kino flows, dollies, dedos and more.
According to his bio Gordon Mciver arrived on the San Francisco film scene in 1994 and hit the ground running. In 1997, after two and half years of production and grip electric training he jumped into the role of gaffer with the purchase of a 2-ton grip truck and the formation of Rebel Sun Lighting and Grip. Since then he has beautifully illuminated over 10 feature films, extensive short narratives, music videos and still shoots, as well as hundreds of corporate videos.
A quick look at his extensive resume and you can feel comfortable knowing that Gordon has seen and done quite a bit. From TV shows like American Idol and True Stories: Alcatraz, to feature films and shorts, to commercials for many well-known national brands, and music videos. Yes boys and girls Gordon MacGyver says he has done it all and he has. Gordon has a low-key and no nonsense style. He brings his skill to every project he takes on but with no attitude, and a“Ive got your back” approach. Gordon is a team player and he is someone you would do well to have on your team.
Gordon also strives to be kind to the environment. He takes every step possible to reduce the impact production has on the environment. From reusing cut gels to turning lights off when theyre not in use to bringing his own reusable coffee mugs and water bottles. Sometimes it takes a lot of people doing little things to make a big difference and Gordon understands that philosophy.
It is said, that big things sometimes come in small packages, and I guess you could say that about Rebel Sun Lighting and Grip. Gordon Mciver PHS says check him out.
